Head of Nursing for Children’s Services, Swansea Bay University Health Board
I would like to take this opportunity to thank BAYouth for the warm welcome I have had following my appointment in February 2022 into the role as Head of Nursing for Children’s Services at Swansea Bay University Health Board and having the privilege to work alongside BAYouth on projects to improve the delivery of services the health board gives to children and young people.  My focus for my first year in post is to work with BAYouth to embed children rights into our everyday practice within the health board to include all area’s that children access and receive care.  This could be through training of children rights for all staff and the awareness of the health boards charter being made visible in all areas of secondary and primary care. As a service we are committed to the Children’s Rights Charter which was developed in 2017 has now evolved and through consultation has been improved enabling it to be accessible to children and young people of all ages and abilities ensuring all children are aware of their rights. The youth board have a drive and passion and demonstrate dedication to improving health services representing the voices of children and young people in Swansea Bay.  They have the ability to influence the decision making process of change and service improvement. It has been a pleasure to get to know the members and I look forward to the many exciting projects they have in 2022-23.
