THE RIGHT WAY: A CHILDREN’S RIGHTS APPROACH

THE RIGHT WAY: A CHILDREN’S RIGHTS APPROACH

We are thankful to the Children's Commissioner for Wales for the invitation to share our work on supporting organisations to take a Children's Rights Approach at their event yesterday. It was great to meet so many committed professionals.

A Children’s Rights Approach in Wales is a framework for working with children, grounded in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), to help public bodies integrate children’s rights into every aspect of decision-making, policy and practice.

This means that: 1) organisations will prioritise children’s rights in their work with children and families to improve children’s lives; 2) all children are given the opportunities to make the most of their talents and potential; 3) all children are given access to information and resources to enable them to take full advantage of their rights; 4) children are provided meaningful opportunities to influence decisions about their lives; 5) authorities and individuals are accountable to children for decisions, and for outcomes that affect children’s lives.
