ONLINE TRAINING FOR THE EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENT SERVICE
We had a very enjoyable online training session last week with some of the older members of the Education Achievement Service’s new Pupil Engagement Forums, learning about governance and the many benefits of youth participation.
The Education Achievement Service (EAS) is the school improvement service of the five local authorities in South East Wales - Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen - and recently appointed a youth board made up of pupils from primary and secondary schools to have their say.
It was our first time working with the EAS and I enjoyed working with Ed to develop the course, particularly an acronyms quiz where putting together wrong answers to throw people off course - when faced with a multiple choice question and the ticking clock of Kahoot counting down the seconds - proved to be quite amusing. The participants enjoyed competing against one another and did well to identify so many acronyms, of which we agreed there are far too many!
I'm looking forward to doing it all again next week with the younger members of the board.
