AWARD WINNERS ABMYOUTH RECOGNISED FOR THEIR COMMITMENT
ABMU’s youth advisory panel recently celebrated being awarded joint winners in the Health, Social Care and Wellbeing Category at the WCVA Third Sector Awards Cymru 2017 for their commitment to being the voice of children and young people in health.
Chair of ABMyouth Sophie, said “It was a privilege to be amongst so many volunteers, organisations and charities who are working so hard to tackle issues such as homelessness and addiction in Wales. The evening really highlighted the fact that mental health is equally as important as physical health.
“As a young person it can be hard to know what difference you can make by yourself, but being part of team ABMyouth has meant that together we can use our voices to speak up for other children and young people in the area that we live in.
“We are so grateful for all the help and training that our volunteers have had from Neath Port Talbot Children’s Rights Unit and support and guidance of Neath Port Talbot CVS. We are lucky to work with the staff at ABMU who are so forward thinking and are always as excited about everything as we are!"
It has been a pleasure for the CRU to support the development of ABMyouth over the past year and we are very excited at what the future holds for Wales’ first youth health advisory panel.
