Neath Port Talbot Children’s Rights Unit (CRU) is a charity that was set up to ensure that children and young people’s rights are respected and protected. The unit aims to make the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), a reality for children, young people and their families living in Neath Port Talbot and the surrounding areas.

The UNCRC is an agreement between countries which sets out the basic rights all children should have. The unit provides opportunities and support for children and young people up to the age of 25 to develop the confidence and skills to understand and exercise their rights, thus becoming active citizens in their societies.

Our unique accredited 'Preparing to be a board member' training for young people aged 14-25, equips young people with the skills they need to undertake decision-making roles on boards, advisory panels and as trustees. For more information visit our project website at

The Unit also works to raise awareness and advance education of children’s rights to organisations and professionals in all areas of society. This includes the development of children's rights training courses and support to take a Children's Rights Approach. If you would like to find out more please contact us.
